Re: The ability to omit blank fields in email notifications
This would be a beneficial feature for Smartsheet to implement. I've had a lot of requests for this recently, especially as our teams utilize the automations to streamline workflows more and more each day.

Creating a collection from a folder is now here!
You asked and we answered! Now you can share all or part of a folder to a collection with just a simple click. Sharing exactly what you want with who needs to see it is easier and faster than ever.
Workspace admins can now create a collection from the contents of a folder via the “add folder items to collection” by clicking the three little dots next to the folder they want to share in the workspace panel. They can add all or part of the folder into an existing collection or create a new one featuring the content needed for the given scope. And to make organizing your assets even easier, we recently enabled admins to reorder the hierarchy of collections to make finding work faster than ever.
All sheets, reports, and dashboards at the root of the selected folder will be added to the collection. Sheet templates and forms inside the folder will not be added. Items added to the folder after the action will not automatically be added later to the target collection (i.e. it’s a snapshot; no synchronization). To learn more about this, please read the Help article here.
As a reminder, Collections is available for plans on the new user model.
Thank you,

Re: Shortcut for counting lots of items in multi-select column?
Hi @RAdamowicz,
You could do this by copying the values from the Multi-Select column properties and then referencing each selection in your formula.
To do this in the same sheet, take the following steps:
- Create a new column called ‘Selections’.
- Double click the multi-select column that you’re wanting to count values of (I’ll call it “Major”). Highlight all values in the values field and copy the selection.
- Click OK/Cancel to close the column properties, then click the first cell in the Selections column and paste the values - these will be listed as one value per row.
- In another column (your countif formula column), use the following formula:
- =COUNTIF(Major:Major, HAS(@cell, Selections@row))
The “Selections@row” section means that the formula will count the option listed in the row, so there’s no need to type out the name of each Major and adjust hundreds of formulas!
If you’d prefer to have your count in a separate sheet, take steps 1 and 2 above, then paste your values into a column named Selections on another sheet. In the formula column, you can then use the following formula, creating the {Major} reference as the entire ‘major’ multi-select column in the referenced sheet:
- =COUNTIF({Major}, HAS(@cell, Count@row))
Take a look at the following resources for more information:
Does that work for you?

Move all tasks to new column, not just Parent cards!
I primarily work in card view, running the project via Scrum methodology. When I move level 1 cards into the 'done' column, it doesnt move the level 2 subtasks into 'done' as well. This is an expected outcome for Smartsheets, but I'd argue that when working in card view, you would only move parent card into 'done' when all the subtasks are complete too. So in cases where you have a few subtasks to update which would complete the overall card, just moving the parent card into the done column should also update the level 2 subtasks into done too.

Re: Can I pull in information from one sheet to another when there are multiple matches?
Hello @tmd1993 ,
It sounds like your Primary sheet is functioning as intended.
Your Secondary sheet challenges sound two-fold:
1) Identify unique Event by Office Location.
2) Aggregate Budget vs Spend by Office Location.

Re: Mouse-over / Alt-text to Dashboard Widgets
Idea: enable "mouse over" functionality on dashboards.
For example, an explanatory field (black box) could be activated by a "mouse over" over an info field (i) (green circle). Example see screenshot

Re: Change color of milestones in Gantt
Great idea! We use the colors of the bars to indicate different modules, which is super helpful. If we could change the color of the milestone it would help to differentiate different types of milestones.

Re: Change color of milestones in Gantt
Is there any reason why this cannot be done and what is the likelihood of this happening in 2025? I see it was asked for as long ago as 2022

Re: new project using the control center: the move / copy rows have to point to new sheets created
We absolutely need this ability in Control Center. Without this functionality, the ability to use Move or Copy row automations within any projects provisioned by control center is effectively eliminated. It isn't sustainable to go into each asset in the newly provisioned project and update the destination sheet for every Move/Copy automation.
